Job Overview:As a Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the transportation network of the company. This includes managing carriers, coordinating shipments, and ensuring the efficient movement of goods from origin to destination. Responsibilities:

  1. Carrier Management:Establish and maintain relationships with transportation carriers and third-party logistics providers.
    Negotiate contracts, rates, and service agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability.
    Evaluate carrier performance regularly and implement improvement initiatives.
  2. Routing and Scheduling:Plan and optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
    Schedule and coordinate shipments, considering factors such as delivery times, fuel efficiency, and carrier capacity.
    Utilize transportation management systems to enhance routing and scheduling.
  3. Cost Management:Monitor and analyze transportation costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
    Implement strategies to optimize fuel efficiency, reduce shipping delays, and minimize overall transportation expenses.
    Develop and manage budgets for transportation operations.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:Stay informed about transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
    Ensure that all shipments comply with local, national, and international regulations.
    Collaborate with regulatory authorities and customs brokers as needed.
  5. Performance Metrics:Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for transportation operations.
    Monitor and analyze performance metrics related to on-time delivery, carrier performance, and transportation costs.

  6. Technology Integration:Stay updated on transportation management technologies and trends.
    Implement and leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies to enhance efficiency.
    Train staff on the use of transportation technology tools.

    Develop contingency plans to address unexpected events that may impact transportation operations.
    Collaborate with insurance providers to manage transportation-related risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in transportation management or a related role.
