Job Title: Transportation Safety Manager

Job Overview:As a Transportation Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of the transportation operations within the company. This position involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting training programs, overseeing compliance with industry regulations, and continuously improving safety standards to reduce accidents and incidents.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Policy Development:Develop, implement, and regularly update comprehensive safety policies and procedures for the transportation department.
    Ensure that safety policies align with industry regulations and best practices.
  2. Regulatory Compliance:Stay current with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
    Monitor changes in legislation and ensure that the company's transportation operations comply with all applicable laws and standards.
    Liaise with regulatory agencies to address compliance concerns.
  3. Training and Education:Develop and conduct safety training programs for transportation personnel, including drivers and logistics staff.
    Provide ongoing education on safety protocols, regulations, and emergency response procedures.
    Ensure that all employees are aware of and adhere to safety policies.
  4. Accident Investigation:Conduct thorough investigations into transportation-related accidents or incidents.
    Analyze root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
    Maintain accurate records of accidents, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
  5. Safety Audits and Inspections:Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of vehicles, facilities, and equipment.
    Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to address any safety concerns or violations.
    Monitor and enforce compliance with safety standards.
  6. Emergency Response Planning:Develop and implement emergency response plans for transportation-related incidents.
    Coordinate with relevant authorities and emergency services to ensure a swift and effective response in case of accidents or emergencies.
    Conduct drills to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans.
  7. Data Analysis and Reporting:Collect and analyze safety-related data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    Prepare and present regular safety reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and safety metrics.
    Use data to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
  8. Communication:Foster a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among all transportation personnel.
    Communicate safety-related updates, policies, and procedures effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
    Act as a point of contact for safety-related concerns and inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in safety management within the transportation industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and apply data for safety improvements.
  • Certification in safety management or relevant field is a plus.
